货船压载舱和货舱压载水进出控制阀多采用遥控操作的液压驱动蝶阀,其远程作动液压油动力源可分为3种供给方式:1.每个蝶阀配备均有独立的小型手动液压泵;2.由供甲板机械使用的大型变量柱塞式液压泵提供;3.有独立于甲板机械液压系统的气动或电动液压泵提供。第一种供给方式提供的液压油压力有限,目前已经基本淘汰。第二种方式在10年以船龄的船舶上仍然较多在用,但是由于系统工作压力较大,对液压油控制阀后的远程液压油管路和连接头的强度及密封性要求较高,5年以上船龄的船舶,液压油系统泄漏故障较多,而且很多泄漏点位于干隔舱内,查找维修作业较为困难,往往会造成液压油较大的浪费。

再者,甲板机械液压泵系高压设备,运转时产生会较大的低频噪音,也会严重干扰船员的休息和睡眠。同时,为开启一个或几个控制蝶阀,需要启动运转功率约9kW的液压泵,从能量利用的角度来说,也是一种严重的浪费。近年日本大岛船厂建造的船舶,逐步采用压缩空气驱动的简单高效的气动往复式单级柱塞泵,提供7.5---9.0MPa的动力油压,有远程触控屏遥控和阀站现场手动控制两种模式,满足液压蝶阀的开关操作。
